THE FRAME HOUSE
The Frame House is a reimagining of the Scouts’ contribution to the Festival of Britain. In celebrating of the 60th anniversary of the Festival of Britain, The Frame House proposes the reconstruction of a temporary park todemonstrate the ideals and benefits of Scoutingto the nation. The Frame House thus sets out to provide a contemporary demonstration of the central principles of scouting in structures that allegorically engage with this historical event at the same time as presenting a vision of how architecture for children can realise the Scouts’ ideals.

‘The Church of Perpetual Experimentation’ - Adam Nathaniel Furman
This is some of the great work produced by Adam in his final year at the AA.
A design for a new church in one of the suburbs of Rome, set within the factious context of a new pontificate that is devoted to the restructuring and expansion of the church, its liturgies and its architecture. The site is set aside by the new pope as a field of experimentation, where the doctrinal and liturgical innovations being developed over the Tiber in the Vatican are immediately put to test and trial with the practicing — and non-practicing — public. All development in the work is structured around the theme of Assemblage, so that all scales, from structural unit, through to the composition of those units into spaces, and then the arrangement of those spaces themselves, are governed by a logic of assemblage, aggregation, and eventually in time, recombination.

110713 - At the Bartlett, Degree Unit 9 have had a really good year. Producing both an interesting space for their show and a book of the work they’d done during their two semesters, alongside some excellent drawings. Louis Sullivan’s work especially stood out for me, with his first project constructed from projections of the heraldic devices of the guild of freemason’s coat of arms. Here’s to next year Chee Kit and Max!

This is the final studio (Border Conditions) project for msc2. Though quite a lot of parametric techniques went into the making of it, they were subservient to rather than defining the project’s outcome.

Bartlett Summer Show 2010 [Plan_Section_Elevation] - Latest - ScanLAB Projects
The Bartlett School of Architecture Summer Show is the annual exhibition of all student work produced that academic year. It comprises a collection of over a thousand models, installations, prototypes, drawings, photographs, films, sketches and designs presented across four large exhibition spaces in the Slade School of Art, UCL each summer. The show lasts for just seven days but represents the output of over 450 Bartlett students, thousands of hours of labour and thousands of pounds in materials.
In 2010, 48 hours of colour 3D scanning produced 64 scans of the entire exhibition space using a Faro Photon 120 laser scanner. These have been compiled to form a complete 3D replica of the temporary show which has been distilled into a navigable animation (shown here) and a series of ‘standard’ architectural drawings. This body of work creates a permanent record of the temporary exhibition, not through recording images or video but solely through 3D scanning.
The process of 3D scanning captures full colour millimetre perfect, spatial data of the models, drawings and exhibition spaces and allows them to be revisited long after the show has finished.
